First session in Db, with a beautiful family!

After a few weeks of waiting for my shipment and then setting things up, I was so happy to get back out and shoot again. I was really excited because there were many firsts involved with this one: first shot in Db, first shot on the beach, first time using my Rangers and first time working with some of my new lenses!

After a make-up and hair session with my friend Karen from Kalamakeup, we headed down to the beach with Jodi, Marco and their adorable (soon to be 2) Sierra. The family is soon going to grow, so we were lucky to celebrate being together and new life all at once!

After that it was some “quality together” time for Jodi and her baby… and time for me to play with my Rangers.

… but the day didn’t end there… in the evening I caught up with her again to create some more maternity shots at home. I think she looks fabulous, don’t you?

That was a perfect end to a perfect first shoot in DB.

Good night world!

Going “green” with my searches

I’m always looking at the “greenest” possible ways of running my business and today I stumbled accross a “green” search engine: http://ecosia.org/

You can check out the video on their website, but basically what Ecosia does, is they give 80% of the advertising profits to the WWF Rainforst program and in addition, they run their servers pureley on Green Energy.

I use the internet extensively, and have read on more than one occasion that the Internet actually pollutes more that commercial airlines in a whole year, and this has bothered me extensively. You can check this article out for example: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/05/what-is-the-environmental-impact-of-the-internet.php

I don’t know about you, but

Months of silence to catch up!

I’ve been rather slack at keeping up my blog lately and I’d like to apologise for that… but it’s only because I’ve been really busy!!!

First and foremost, we finally got a date for our move late summer so I’ve been quite busy preparing our move to Hong Kong. I’m really quite sad to be leaving Krakow because I love this place so much, but I’m looking forward very much to the new adventure that lies beyond and the new places to discover. We spent a week there looking for a new home and all, and it was a lot of fun and the food was just amazing!

Then I worked on a quite important project with my friend and extremely talented singer/songwriter Claire Tchaikowski.

Claire came to visit early October and we filmed her dance remix video. This was my very first video with my new camera and we had a lot of fun doing it. Taawa gave us permission to film in their beautiful and super sexy club and the Universe sent us snow for the outside shots. This took up quite some of my time too, since I not only did the video, but all the artwork for her album. It was a really fun project!

The video can be found by clicking here. (link to vimeo)

Another really fun project was the adaptation of old ski posters for a Swiss Alpine Photographer – Patrick Jantet – who has a photo service and shop in the very classy ski resort of Villars-Sur-Ollon. We worked together on quite a few projects and this one – just like the others – was sooooo much fun.

These beautiful posters can be purchased in his shop in Switzerland, or shipped to you directly. Just drop him a line if you’re interested: info@studiopatrick.ch… and if you’re in Villars, pop by his shop next time you’re up there and say hi from me :)

With this I also worked on a beautiful demo book for my talented friend and photographer Philippe Wiget, who also works in Switzerland. Philippe is a top class wedding photographer and we’ve been working for some years together now. We have both fallen in love with Finao books and have decided to replace our previous offer of Graphistudio books – with whom we have had many problems – with this new supplier. And that gave us a new opportunity to work together :)  We selected one of his cool weddings from last year to make a “bebbalicious”  album :)

Finally, I spent a little time training the children at school who are taking over the newsletter I was doing for them, I designed another Wedding Book for some private clients, went on holiday (yeah yeah I know… ) and did some private photography for the school year-end shows and birthday parties…   and as I sit here writing this entry, my house is being emptied and shipped off to the other side of the world.

moving

So I bid you farewell for now as I might be off line for some time and wish you all a very happy New Year to come filled with success, health and lots of love :)

Take care – deelee

A very fun evening

Last Thursday there was a cool office party at Palac Radziwillow that I was invited to photograph. The team gathered to celebrate the end of a project and the mood was wonderful. Good food, drinks, a puppet show (if you live in Krakow you might recognise the guy from the Rynek and his amazing puppets)… and ping-pong kept everybody happily entertained.

Later on in the evening, there was a surprise show… three of the project leaders got up on stage to give a special concert. Everybody went nuts… it was really fun to photograph… and film, as I used my Mark II’s great video capability to create some “fusion” output. I can’t share the “fusion” video, but I can share a few photos :)

All was organised by Concept Music Art who did an amazing job… my Krakow friends will want to keep this address in a safe place… I can only highly recommend them!

African Travel book – sneak peak

A few weeks back, a photographer friend called me up and asked me to design a travel book for him. I was really excited about this project as I don’t get to do this type of work really often. My enthusiasm went through the roof when I saw the pictures… they are really b-utiful!

I haven’t finished the book yet, but I’m so ecstatic about it that I want to share a page or two for fun ;) I’ll share a little more when the project is finished ;)

Expecting in Krakow Session with A. & I.

Yesterday was very special for me as I caught up again with A. whom I photographed a few months ago in a Krakow in Love session. A. is now 8 months pregnant and is absolutely gorgeous. We spent a lovely moment creating memories of this very special time in her life.  Baby I. is due at the end of August and mom & dad have already prepared such a sweet room and bought many cute clothes and shoes while waiting to meet their little princess.

I wish them all the best and look forward to meeting little I. when she gets back.

Krakow In Love with G. and F.

G & F contacted me to celebrate their 10 years together with a Krakow in Love Session. It was really nice to hang out with them and to walk around Krakow a few days ago. We have a lot in common and we spent a really nice evening, not only taking pictures, but also sharing stories – and they have a very nice one of how they met through a photograph :) . After shooting a few “day time” pictures, I took them to my favorite restaurant – Sakana Sushi Bar – and we shared some glorious food and fun stories. G & F lived previously in China and since it will be my next stop, it was very interesting to me to hear all about it. We finished the evening walking around the city center catching some fun and romantic pictures under the Krakow lights.

Like some nice pictures of Krakow for your albums?

If you’d like to have some high quality pictures of Krakow for your albums, I’ve just set up an online gallery where you can purchase different scenes of Krakow in many different formats.

  • Download the files and use them in your electronic documents or to make online albums.
  • Purchase prints directly from EZ prints who will send high quality prints to your home.

And if you’d like to be in the picture, don’t forget that I am offering Krakow Sessions only until this autumn, so hurry up to book a place before it’s too late ;)

Krakow Family Session with the L. Family

Yesterday, I headed out into town with the adorable L. Family who are leaving Krakow on Monday and wanted some souvenirs of the magical time they spent in Krakow.

The three kids where absolutely ADORABLE and we all had a wonderful time. Baby T. has the cutest little features and I had a blast photographing them. K. & W. where the perfect models playing with me for the camera and where as good as gold… and J. & B. are so happy and relaxed together… even the sun shined for us!…  it was a wonderful moment.

We finished by having a delicious and relaxed meal together as the sun went down over the Wisla.  I’m a little sad to say good-bye to them, but so happy we got to spend this nice evning together.

I wish them all the best in their new adventures!

Krakow In Love Session with A. & D.

Krakow in Love session

Krakow in Love session

Just before leaving for Switzerland, I spent a really lovely evening with A & D who are a truly handsome and adorable couple. They are getting married very soon and wanted to remember their time together here in Krakow.

The whole day  had been grey and windy with regular rain showers, but we took off anyway – my flash all packed with batteries and ready to do some serious work. We just couldn’t believe our luck when the sky  cleared up in less than 15 minutes while we were drinking a “pre-shooting” beer on the Rynek.

We started out in the old town and then headed over to Kazimierz – the Jewish quarter – for some supper and some “night” shots. My husband joined in on the fun and did an excellent job as my “flash holder” and “bag carrier” for the rest of the evening (thank you honey, could not have done it without you !).

We had a great time and Kazimierz by night is really an amazing and romantic place to photograph – don’t you think?
